Rise and Shine

Rise and Shine is specifically for the first trimester of pregnancy when you feel tired and nauseous. This formula tastes like sunshine in a bottle and is based on the traditional Chinese herbal medicine formula Ju Pi Zhu Ru Tang, Tangerine Peel and Bamboo Shavings Decoction. It can also be used for general digestive and energy support, especially after recovering from an acute illness when your digestion still feels “off.”

This formula descends rebellious Qi, like hiccups, dry heaving and nausea or vomiting. It also clears heat or irritability while increasing digestive capacity and Qi (the body’s vital life force). It’s a gentle but very effective formula to take in the first trimester of pregnancy or anytime you need some digestive support.

The main herbs of the formula are tangerine peel, or chen pi, which is warm, acrid and bitter to harmonize the Stomach and bamboo shavings, or zhu ru, which is cooling and sweet to clear heat and calm the Stomach. Codonopsis, or dang shen, is a Qi tonic that increases digestive capacity by supporting the Spleen and Stomach. Fresh ginger, or sheng jiang, is added to reinforce the actions of tangerine peel and stop vomiting. Ginger is warming and prevents the formula from being too cooling as well. Licorice root, or gan cao, is added to harmonize the formula and increase Qi. Lastly, jujube, or da zao, also tonifies Qi. The sweetness of jujube and gan cao also soothe the Liver.

This is not the right formula for acute illness that includes vomiting but it can be taken during the recovery period.

Other indications for use: Post viral illness, post “stomach flu,” digestive aid taken before meals, tension in the diaphragm, nausea or vomiting due to chemotherapy

Dosage Recommendation:
Take 1-2 dropperfuls before meals or as needed. Use consistently for the best results. One dropperful is approximately 30 drops.
